Dr. James Thomas Jones III left a message on December 5, 2019:
I will not express a moment of sadness for my Uncle David in this communication, not because I do not have any regarding his transition from his earthly body, rather because I can not think of a single moment where he did not have that signature smile on his face and a good story to tell. There were times when others were the butt of his jokes and times when it was your turn. Possibly my favorite story involves me being home visiting my parents and David came and knocked at the front door, I answered the door and tried to let him in, however, he just stood there staring at me. I asked him "Uncle David, what's wrong with you? Come on in." He just looked me up and down and burst out laughing as he told me that my Uncle Kenneth had told him that I was in town and that he had to go up the street to see me. David then laughed and said, "Nephew, Kenneth told me that you had got so fat that you couldn't even tie your shoes anymore. Man, you ain't THAT fat." I didn't know what to say. However, he burst out laughing and just walked away. That is how I will remember him. Laughing, joking and signifying with the rest of the family, most likely while barbecuing. I know that many think that he is at rest, I am pretty certain that he is in heaven right now giving updates on what is going on with us (with a humorous twist) to those who want to know and getting ready to "put some meat on the grill." Love ya, Uncle David; I guess that Heaven needed your laughter and spirit. Until we meet again, my brother. Love ya!!!!!!
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family and close friends of Dave. There wasn't time that Dave didn't have a smile on his face and a joke to keep you laughing. His amazing cooking skills kept everyone on full and know that you will be truly missed my friend You created some very fond memories that will last our lifetime. Goodbye is not the appropriate term, but 'see you later' is more fitting as your spirit will rest until we meet again. To 'my' family, I love you all and I pray that God provide you comfort and peace during this time.
